Nemanja Matic set for Chelsea talks.

It has been confirmed by the Daily Mail that the agent of the Serbian is set for showdown talks with Benfica in the coming days and it is widely expected that he will then travel to London to discuss a move back to Stamford Bridge. Benfica are rumoured to be willing to part with their midfield maestro for €28m.

Matic left Stamford Bridge almost three years ago as part of the deal that saw David Luiz arrive at the club and the 25-year-old has flourished since his transfer to Portugal. His passing ability and control of the game has rumoured to have caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs in the world including Real Madrid and Manchester United. With Frank Lampard nearing the end of his illustrious career, is Matic ideally the perfect replacement for Chelsea's record goalscorer?

He initially signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2009 but made only two first-team appearances for the club before joining Benfica, and his departure has proved something of a foolish move for the Chelsea coaching staff. Matic joins a number of Serbian youth players making their names as top class players. Matic, along with compatriot Majita Nastasic who moved to Manchester City from Fiorentina in 2012, are two of the biggest names of the Serbian youth scheme and the two could be reunited in the Premier League soon.

Manchester United's interest in the player is rumoured to be strong and manager David Moyes is keen to add to his midfield. Struggling to control games since the absence of Darren Fletcher, Moyes is certainly keen to improve United's dominance in games and in recent times especially at home.
