Inter's New Boss Erick Thohir Arrives
New owner Erick Thohir arrived at Inter today as a new regime gets underway. But what can fans of the club actually expect from the new man? As with all football supporters, they hope he's going to splash the cash and bring back the glory days. But will he? There is no doubt the 43 year old Indonesian is a very shrewed businessman, but he is also a sports fan. He is part-owner of the NBA basketball team, the Philadelpia 76'ers, and also part-owner of the MLS team, DC United and owns 2 other basketball teams in Indonesia.
There has been speculation that he wants to sell his stake in the 76'ers but as yet he hasn't. Supporters assume that Inter will be big spenders in the upcoming January transfer window but I think the wise move would be to wait until the summer as any real quality players will be available then. Any young long term additions could be picked up in January but Thohir might want to make a couple of marquee signings to appease the fans and get them on his side. Rumours persist that he wants a defender and a big name striker, but we have to wait and see. These are very interesting times at Inter, which will have fans chomping at the bit for success and it may well come.
