Why Brisbane Roar Are Leading The Race In The A-League?

Brisbane roar are leading the race at the top of the Hyundai A-League with 21 points. The Roar have won 7 out of their 9 games played losing the other 2 with a goal difference of +11. A 2-1 win over Adelaide United this past weekend round of fixtures puts them 5 points clear of the Wanderers, last year's finalists and minor champions. The real question is why are the Roar on top? Certain players? Team effort? Both.

A key to the Brisbane Roars season is consistency, players that are important playing week in, week out. 4 very key players have started every game, Matt Smith who was injury struck for most of last season and as captain his leadership provides a valuable part to the side, Thomas Broich who plays a vital part to the side, his creative edge provides goals and leading the A-League in crosses(70). Right back Jack Hingert and deep lying midfielder Luke Brattan have also started all 9 games while Brattan has even scored and provided 2 assists. Ivan Franjic has also started 8 games missing 1 on international duty.

Besart Berisha is once again having a great season leading from the front with 5 goals from 5 games after suffering with an injury earlier in the season. An unlikely hero Ivan Franjic has scored 2 cracking goals with 4 assists to add to that.

With a trip to Wellington and a home game to Newcastle Jets coming up the Roar go in favourites while they are in good form. The Phoenix are yet to win which also adds the why Roar are favourites. Can the Roar hold this lead? After 2 successful campaigns in a row back a few years ago there is no doubt the classy Brisbane Roar have what it takes to win another A-League championship.
